Yellow mini Dresden

I have made my yellow mini Dresden block for June.
These are the Dresden's I have made as part of Rainbow Scrap Challenge this year.
They measure about 7 1/2" across, so if I am considering just making nine so I get a nice size wall hanging.
I think a linen background would be nice, but not sure if I want to use linen for the centres as well.
What do you think?
Happy quilting, Sue.

  2. Those are beautiful! I've never made dresdens, but I'm wondering---do you have enough of the "lightest" of each color for the centers, or maybe the "darkest" of each? I guess maybe neither of those would be enough contrast, but I'd have to try it probably. I'm sure you will come up with the best decision. ---"Love"

  3. I'm always tempted to use an additional print for the center of my Dresden Plate blocks. Good luck with your choice!

  4. Wow--that is a lot of blades in those little Dresdens! They look wonderful.
Since I am still having an inner tug-of-war over the centers of my mini Dresdens, I feel ill qualified to offer advice. : )
My centers are each a different, contrasting color from my Dresdens and it just isn't sitting right with me. I think my scrappy Dresdens need unifying. Your Dresdens aren't cluttered looking like mine, with each of yours being from one color family. I think you could do most anything you wanted. I might play with something in the center of a slightly lighter or darker shade than your linen background, if you go that route, just so it doesn't appear at first glance that you just forgot to put something over the center. *LOL*

  5. Dresdens! Great idea. :D I think you will have to audition a few different ideas to see what feels best for the centres. It would be quite modern to make the centre the same as the background, and could be really nice. Or, a larger print, since your prints are all small. You still have two months to decide!

  11. These mini Dresdens are so cute! Linen sounds nice for both the backgrounds and the centers. A raibow print might also be nice for the centers to bring all the blocks together.

  12. Those are a lovely bouquet of blocks already. You still have plenty of time to decide on the centers. Keep up the good work!
